Pitsford Hall Weather Station is an independent meteorological station maintained by the Department of Geography at Northamptonshire Grammar School, UK. Climatological observations are made daily according to the criteria of the UK Meteorological Office at 0900 hours UTC using classical instrumentation. Weather observations are also made round the clock every 30 minutes using a Davis Vantage Pro automatic weather station. Both the main set of climatological observations and current weather conditions are available via this site. In addition to recording the weather, the station produces a forecast for Northamptonshire which is released daily via this web site , e-mail/fax and an answerphone service on 07967 438314.

Intense low tracking to the north-west of the British Isles and filling
very slowly; weak ridge developing from the south-west through
Tuesday.
The Forecast for Northamptonshire
A blustery start to the day across the county and fairly cloudy with
some places likely to catch the odd spot or two of drizzle. However,
the skies should clear later this morning to allow for some bright
spells. A very mild day with temperatures expected to reach 13C.
Winds fresh south or south-westerlies. Rain will spread eastwards
this evening falling occasionally heavy as winds veer more
westerly. The overnight minimum 6C.
Outlook for the next few days:
Dry and bright tomorrow with sunny spells on a brisk W breeze. 8C
maximum. Rain will spread to all areas overnight. Mostly cloudy on
Weds morning with lingering rain breaking up to sunshine and

General Situation
Weak ridge building up from the south-east will give way to the
next intense Atlantic low over the next 36 to 48 hours.
The Forecast for Northamptonshire
Cloud associated with the overnight front will continue to slip away
eastwards to leave a mainly dry and bright day across the county
with some reasonable spells of sunshine. However, cloud will
develop from time to time bringing the risk of the odd shower. A
brisk south-westerly wind will tend to ease slightly as the day wears
on. A cooler day than yesterday with highs reaching 8C, falling back
to 6C overnight. Rain will push eastwards towards dawn.
Outlook for the next few days:
A wet morning tomorrow but turning brighter later with scattered
showers; winds freshening from the south-west. Continuing unsettled
on Thursday with low pressure close by: bright spells in between
a scattering of blustery showers.

General Situation
Deep low tracking slowly eastwards across the United Kingdom,
expected to fall to 973mb in central parts by midnight tonight.
The Forecast for Northamptonshire
The county is getting a thorough soaking this morning, but we are
expecting the worse of the rain to have moved eastwards by early
afternoon to be replaced by brighter spells and occasional
blustery showers. The moderate to fresh southerly wind will be an
added feature of today's weather. The top temperature 10C falling
back overnight to 9C. Following a dry interlude more showers will
creep eastwards late in the night.
Outlook for the next few days:
Cloudy tomorrow with rain at times during the morning. As the day
wears on the winds should ease and veer more northerly and
with clearing skies a frost is expected overnight with minima dipping
to -2C. A return to the wet and windy theme on Friday.

General Situation
Yesterday's deep low will move steadily eastwards giving way to
a col before the next system rolls in tomorrow afternoon.
The Forecast for Northamptonshire
Some bright spells could develop during the morning, although
cloud will tend to remain fairly persistent triggering the odd shower.
However, things should start to improve during the afternoon. Winds
moderate westerlies will tend to veer more north-westerly as we
approach evening. Today's high around 9C. Temperatures will
drop sharply under clear skies to -2C. A little sleet is possible later
in the night, but it will pose minimal problems.
Outlook for the next few days:
Any sleet will soon to rain tomorrow as a mild day is in prospect
with temperatures up to 12C. Winds will steer more SW. Further rain
is likely by evening. Temperatures falling to 6C. Becoming wet &
windy into Saturday, rain will be heavy at times becoming showery

General Situation
The next Atlantic low is waiting in the wings and will track slowly
eastwards during today, followed on by a further discrete low
from the south-west tomorrow.
The Forecast for Northamptonshire
A band of rain is already edging into the south-western corner of
the county and this will spread across the whole of Northants over
the next few hours. A drier slot will follow before further spells of
rain during the afternoon and evening. Today's high will reach 11C
with winds picking up to a fresh south-westerly by this evening.
The rain should eventually clear away overnight as temperatures
slip down to 7C.
Outlook for the next few days:
Windy with rain at times tomorrow, mostly cloudy and dry with
winds easing a touch through Sunday. Monday will see the return
of some wet and very windy conditions. Continuing mild throughout.

Deep low tracking eastwards across the north of Scotland with a
second discrete system moving up from the south-west over the
next 24 to 36 hours.
The Forecast for Northamptonshire
The strong wind will continue to be the main feature of the weather
today. Some rain by clip the county during the course of the morning,
but we are set for a day of sunny spells and occasional brief
showers. Temperatures have practically reached their maximum of
around 10C and will tend to fall during the day down to a low of 7C
overnight. The night will be marked by further cloud and occasional
rain, although the winds should ease.
Outlook for the next few days:
Cloudy tomorrow with drizzly spells later. Continuing breezy and mild.

A succession of weather fronts are making their way eastwards
across the UK with a further set of Atlantic lows continuing to
dominate the weather for the next few days.
The Forecast for Northamptonshire
A reasonably bright morning across the county with a short period
of sunshine likely at least for the next few hours. However, cloud
will move up from the south turning the skies generally overcast
for the most part. There could be the odd spot or two of drizzle, but
most areas will stay dry. Winds still fairly brisk: gentle occasionally
moderate south-westerlies. Today's high 12C falling back to 8C this
evening with winds easing.
Outlook for the next few days:
A cloudy picture tomorrow and breezy with rain arriving during the
afternoon. Winds will tend to veer more westerly overnight. A small
ridge of high pressure will produce a bright morning on Thursday,
but it will cloud over later with some drizzle. A return to wet and
very windy conditions on Friday.

More weather fronts tracking across the United Kingdom today
with a transient ridge expected to develop in the lee of these
fronts overnight.
The Forecast for Northamptonshire
The moderate to fresh southerly breeze is again a marked feature
of the weather today. Much of the county will remain beneath a
blanket of cloud with drizzly spells this morning developing into
more prolonged and substantial rain later. Temperatures will climb
a little more to around 11C, but it will turn markedly cooler later with
temperatures overnight falling under clearing skies to 3C.
Outlook for the next few days:
Dry and reasonably bright first thing tomorrow, but cloud and an
increasing south-westerly wind will herald some rain during the
evening. Friday is still set to be particularly windy with the worse of
the gales expected further north. The wind will be mixed with blustery
showers.

935mb by mid-night tonight. Severe gales affecting western
coastal fringes and very strong winds elsewhere.

A mostly violent day across the county with some very strong
winds gusting occasionally to gale force in exposed areas. The
strong winds will be accompanied by rain by the middle of the day
and blustery showers for the remainder. The top temperature 11C
falling overnight to 10C. Any rain overnight will be light and patchy,
but winds will remain strong.
Outlook for the next few days:
Generally unsettled through the weekend with cloud and fairly
persistent rain. The strong winds will continue through Saturday

southern parts for most of the coming week.

There could be some bright spells today, but these will generally
be short-lived with a good deal of cloud around becoming thick
enough from time to time to produce some outbreaks of showery
rain. Temperatures will reach 11C in a gentle sometimes moderate
south-westerly breeze. Dry for a time this evening before further
cloud and rain pushes up from the south. 4C minimum.
Outlook for the next few days:
Cloudy with rain at times tomorrow. Winds turning easterly. 11C
maximum falling to 5C overnight under cloudy skies. A colder day

Weather front remaining fairly stationary along the south coast
tied into an area of low pressure west of Iberia.
The Forecast for Northamptonshire
Some mist and fog around at the moment will clear away during the
morning being replaced by some spells of sunshine. Cloud will
be fairly persistent however, but most of us should escape with
a dry day until this evening at least when some patchy rain may
affect the southern end of the county. Winds calm at first, freshening
steadily from the east. 10C the top temperature falling to 3C
overnight.
Outlook for the next few days:
Mostly dry tomorrow although it will stay very cloudy. The marked
feature will be the fresh north-easterly breeze which will make it
feel pretty cold. The front which will have been dogging the south
coast will slowly move northwards through Thursday bringing
spells of rain to the county.

high pressure moving steadily eastwards to build over Scan-
dinavia.
The Forecast for Northamptonshire
The movement of the frontal system across the south has been
rather difficult to predict, but today we are expected to keep a good
deal of cloud although the drizzly rain should ease off later this
morning and into the afternoon. Winds will strengthen to become
fairly brisk north-easterlies and it will feel correspondingly cold. The
top temperature 7C. Cloudy overnight, but dry with minima around
1C.
Outlook for the next few days:
Staying cloudy tomorrow. Dry first thing, but rain will move up again
from the south later. Winds will remain brisk north-easterlies.

of a few brief spells of brightness this morning, this cloud will tend
to develop more substantially as the day wears on ultimately
bringing rain. The wind will continue to freshen and become a
strong and gusty easterly making it feel pretty cold. Today's high
around 7C falling overnight to 3C.

Sunny spells and heavy showers tomorrow, but feeling milder with
highs of 10C falling to 4C. A reasonably bright start to Saturday,
