Analysis: Cloud Cover - Jan 26-30th and Feb 2-6th, 1998
The UK, especially the south, was generally less cloudy than other parts of Europe due to the influence of high pressure which brought stable clear, cold frosty conditions and with some overnight fog. Northern Europe was more cloudy but with clearer periods associated with extremely low temperatures. Southern Europe was affected by low pressure and depressions bringing cloudier conditions. Zimbabwe had convectional cloud associated with high temperatures and the uplift of large volumes of moist air.
